club Q: Colorado Springs LGBTQ+ nightclub shooting suspect arrested


In the U.S. tonight, a tragic mass shooting in a Colorado Springs LGBTQ+ nightclub. 

At least 5 people are dead and 25 others injured after a lone gunman opened fire in the crowded club. Colorado's governor, the first openly gay man elected governor in the U.S., called the attack "sickening." The suspect was injured and has been arrested. Jennifer Johnson has the latest.

The 22-year-old suspect is facing preliminary hate crime and first-degree murder charges in the shooting that killed five and injured more than a dozen others at a Colorado Springs LGBTQ nightclub.

Police said the suspect of the Club Q shooting that killed 5 people and injured 25 others was identified as 22-year-old Anderson Lee Aldrich. 

Aldrich was arrested in June 2021 in connection with a bomb threat that led to a standoff at his mother's home, according to a news release from the El Paso County Sheriff's Office at the time and his mother's former landlord.
